Silas was excellent with his diagnosis and explanation of the problem (bad capacitor). He also went over some other issues he came across. This is the 2nd time SoGood has come through and solved the issue with great professionalism and outstanding customer service. Wouldn't call anyone else regarding Heating, Plumbing & A/C.

The first time we used Southern Goodman was when we came home to a non-functioning AC unit. We were so appreciative of how quickly they were able to get someone to our house to address the problem. I find their maintenance plans to be reasonably priced. Nathan, the tech who came to do our regularly scheduled maintenance was extremely thorough. Update 3/4/2026 I had the pleasure of speaking with Samson today regarding some possible inspection list items related to our HVAC. He was so kind, listened to my concerns and went above and beyond to address them. I continue to be impressed with the level of customer service this company provides.

Bryce was so nice and professional. He took time to do such a complete assessment and gave me more information than I've ever received in the past, which I appreciate greatly.

They have come by twice at the behest of our management company. We have loved both times. They are kind, efficient, and explain everything they are doing. Today they replace our water heater and found a dead mouse, took it upon themselves to take care of it for us. Above and beyond!

Extremely competent and thorough assessment of the problem in my system, which was only a year and a half old but originally installed by someone who was totally incompetent. Repairs were thorough and executed with diligence and professionalism by technicians who worked late into the evening to get me up and running again. Their work assures me my system is operating at peak performance. I highly recommend Southern Goodman for all your HVAC needs.

Silas was absolutely phenomenal! He gave us a ton of bad news in the best possible way after thoroughly diagnosing not just 1 problem, but a couple issues. They also have an excellent member program which we immediately signed up for. Best HVAC service we've ever received!

Daniel provided exceptional service while performing our 1 year inspection of our newly installed whole house plumbing system, installed by SoGood. He performed two minor fixes to our laundry room faucet and toilet during his inspection at no extra cost, which I greatly appreciated. He was super friendly during his visit, and demonstrated care for his craft with his professional knowledge and recollection of plumbing he installed in our house a year later. Daniel's professional expertise and friendly personality, as well as the other professionals at SoGood, are the reason we will never go with anyone but SoGood for our plumbing, heating, and air services! Very awesome experience! The whole process was easy and painless, from setting up the appointment, to confirmations, to the actual appointment. Julia, our technician was amazing! Answered all questions, went above and beyond! All and all a great experience and I actually look forward to working with them in the future. We had a water pressure issue and was hoping to flush hot water heater that was 20 yrs old. New to the house and have no maintenance logs. Was recommended not to flush water heater due to its age as it could cause problem. Water pressure issue was thoroughly checked from the meter to the faucets. He was able to determine it was due to the flow reducer in the faucets. He took care of it, all is well now. On top of his thoroughness he was a nice guy with tons of patience. Update, pressure tank was required and he returned to install it. Great company.

I had my unit serviced today and after the technician left the unit stopped working properly. When I called I didn’t get the answer I wanted but Sampson the owner came out to make sure my family had heat and correct the issue. Had a great conversation, he definitely cares about his customers.

Great Customer Service. Yovani, the service tech was amazing. He installed an ecobee pro thermostat. I give him 5 stars for great customer service. However, I feel like the product was highly overpriced.

This is hands down the absolute best company in the Richmond market. I manage facility vendors for living and wish they could all be this great! My heat failed in the middle of one of the worst ice storms we’ve seen. Within 24 hours of calling they had a tech onsite to give us a very good price for replacement and said they could even do the work the next day!! Not only did they do the work, they stayed onsite until after 11pm to ensure we had heat back in the house! I couldn’t be more impressed with the customer service they provided and will be recommending to anyone needing HVAC work. Thank you so much!!

Let me tell you about this amazing company: Our unit fried during the extreme cold of January 2026…IYKYK. We requested an estimate the day it went out, had a great price that same day, and the unit installed the very next day! Andy and Brian arrived at 9:30 AM on a bitterly cold day with sheets of ice everywhere; the roads, our yard, our fence and around our broken unit. They came with shovels and other equipment and chipped away at the ice before even starting to install the new equipment. Due to this being an old house, the work was time-consuming but these amazing gentlemen toughed it out until 11:30 PM when the job was finally done!! They installed the new unit with brand new wiring, new heat pump, new breakers, new thermostat…the whole nine yards. Even at the late hour, they walked us through the new thermostat, new breaker layout and covered any questions we had. I cannot say enough about this company and their amazing workers. It’s so rare to find a business that works this hard under such extreme conditions without a single complaint or moment spared. We kept asking throughout the day if they needed a hot beverage or a snack but they deferred each time. I could not recommend a business more than this one!!!

Small leak where pvc drain pipe under sink meets rusted threads on galvanized pipe.

Luke came in and was amazing. I needed someone to take a look at my running toilet, he then pointed out to me that my water heater (which is gas) had been emitting carbon monoxide in the closed room. Same day order and installed it in the freezing cold with slippery ice all over. He told me that with how amazong he is, his boss Sam is just as, if not more, amazing. Just know if you got either of them, thats the real deal. The poor guy was in my driveway basically chiseling out a path from the truck to the door through the ice to install the new water heater. Luke if your boss sees this, you got to ask that man for a raise because I'd say your work proved it!

Kudos to Julia for navigating ice covered neighborhood streets and driveway to repair our HVAC unit yesterday. The problem was pretty obscure, but Julia continued to work diligently to find, correct and test the system to make sure it was working properly. We had only been able to use emergency heat since Sunday, but Julia got the system running normally again. Thank you Julia and SoGood Plumbing and Heating! They are my go to company for maintenance and service!

Scheduled on line appointment and service was performed on time on day of my appointment. Serviceman was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable about his work. Drain lines had to be replaced with pvc under kitchen double sink because of leak and age of old pipe.

Luke did a great job assessing our frozen pipe situation.

I contacted SoGood Plumbing - Heating and Air regarding an issue with water pressure. During initial contact to schedule, it was a pleasant experience. I was pleased with receiving the notifications of the window of arrival as well. Luke presented as professional, personable, knowledgeable, respectful, and seems to have a knack for connecting with the customer. He assisted in the process of elimination which determined that there was a larger issue that would require well service. I will be reaching out to SoGood in the future when any of their services are needed.

It's true, Silas is thorough in his inspection and open about the issues as well as price. First, it was the coil, a $39 unit requiring .5 mins to install that SoGood charges almost $500 to replace. Nevermind this coil rarely goes bad, dang near impossible on a unit less than the years old. Well, once replaced, my HVAC still made same noise and functional inefficiency. Afterwards, Silas in his triage stated it was the motherboard. Instead of inquiring about the open market cost of a board and knowing that my attitude towards SoGood is now at best reserved given the constant problems I'm having with this "new" unit, I had Silas install one - cost $609. As a retired professor of data analytics, I know these problems occur with some more often than others. As a consumer who's considering the issues I've had with this very loud unit, I feel that I've either bought a lemon or I'm getting royally screwed by SoGood - no knock on Salis. Next time i have a problem, I'll be more proactive. I wonder if there are many other complaints, what's the turnover ratio, etc...

2025 update: excellent service by Dwayne, for a PM call. Outstanding service by Bryce! With an inoperative HVAC compressor, we called Southern Goodman more or less blindly, but with good reviews. Bryce arrived within 3 hours and repaired the compressor back to full operation at a very fair price. Rapid response, full fix, and economy already earns 5 stars, but it gets better. Bryce took the time to explain and show me the problems and contributing factors, eg: dirty air handler coils, and advised me on prevention of problems, in a way that most service techs do not. Also, this occurred in the circumstance that we had a different company come out a week prior, supposedly did some diagnostics, revealing it would "be as expensive to repair as to replace", resulting in the recommendation of a $10,000 replacement..... but a promise to make an estimate for repairs. It was that delay in the estimate which gave us the opportunity to work with Southern Goodman, and glad we did, saving over $9000! I recommend getting 2-3 opinions on expensive HVAC propositions, but make Southern Goodman one of them. We will be lifelong customers. Thanks Bryce!

Dwayne G came by this morning to perform annual preventive maintenance on our furnace and was a total professional throughout his visit. He gave me a thorough overview of every action taken post inspection and made constructive recommendations for our HVAC inspection which will occur next Spring. Dwayne has visited our home previously and both times he showed exceptional politeness and was very respectful. One of the nicest techs I've had the pleasure to interact with, and is very good at his job! As I've said in previous reviews, SoGood is definitely the place to go for long term contracts on all things HVAC, heating, and plumbing. We presented a unique problem to the HVAC tech. There is a mineral deposit collecting on the outside of one of the pipes attached to the furnace. He thoroughly checked all systems in an attempt to find the water leak. His final thought was the old pipe was too large and air was cooling too quickly so condensation was occurring where the new and old pipes meet. He did offer a recommendation to resolve the problem.

We had both of our heat pumps replaced by Southern Goodman this year, and the whole experience has been about as good as possible for such a large expense. The communication was excellent and friendly. I really like the continuity of working with the same receptionist (Sammy), technician (Silas), salesman (Mitch) and lead installer (Jonni) throughout the entirety of our service. Importantly, I never felt like I was being upsold or pressured. Each time, we were presented with a comprehensive set of (free) quotes, tailored to our specific situation, and each line item was clearly explained. There was always an opportunity to identify the essentials and hold off on the nice-to-haves. And they also offered short-term Band Aid solutions too, in the event that we couldn’t financially swing a full replacement. When our second system failed just 6mo after the first, they gave us a great price, as if we replaced both units at the same time. I also appreciate how they offer peripheral services, like duct cleaning and crawl space encapsulation, because I feel like I can trust them to give an honest quote and do good work (vs companies that specialize in those services and often feel a lot more shady). Crews were always clean, professional and efficient when it came time to do the actual install. When we had a minor issue (rattling sound from a loose screw) shortly after the first install, they came back and fixed it the next day for free. A 6mo inspection was included for free with the install, and I’m glad it did because we were able to identify that our second system was failing before it completely broke and left us without heat in the dead of winter. Lastly, I appreciate how our salesman took the time to educate us about best practices for maintaining the new systems. I’ve owned two houses prior and didn’t realize that we had been inadvertently doing things that were causing unnecessary wear and tear. TL;DR — good people, white glove service, fair price

We were very pleased with Luke and the work he did at our house in the East End to replace our leaking water heater. He was prompt, communicated clearly, and was exceptionally pleasant. The lain of the water heater made it somewhat tricky to remove and replace, but he was patient and did a great job. He left the place looking great. We very much appreciated his good work.

Stephen diagnosed the issue with the plumbing and made quality repairs at a reasonable price and fast. He even went above and beyond to install an access panel that I purchased earlier and made the cosmetics look great. Outstanding professionalism I highly recommend.

Right before the first snow of the winter, our hvac stopped running and we had to use space heaters to keep the house warm until the issue could be resolved. SoGood was able to send someone out next day to check on it. Dwayne G came by to evaluate the problem, and was very polite and friendly. We described the issue, and he very quickly identified the source of the problem, fixed it, and did multiple checks after to confirm that it was working properly. He seemed very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to do business with.

I contacted SoGood on Monday 12/1, ready to give up on ever having working central heat and air. I had gone through at least 10 other companies who were either out of my price range or unwilling to offer financing based on my credit. Samson's first question was "Its cold. Do you have heat at all?" When I told him no, he immediately jumped into action. I told him about my less than stellar credit, and the challenges I've faced over the last few years with getting help.
